Abstract from eastmoney.com

On April 3, according to foreign media reports, an industry report released on Wednesday showed that global wind power capacity is expected to increase by 50% in the next five years as technology costs fall further and emerging markets drive growth.

In an annual report on the wind industry, the Globalwind Energy Council said 51.3GW of new wind power capacity was installed last year, bringing cumulative capacity to 591 GW.

Driven by emerging markets in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia, and the increasing competitiveness of offshore wind, the company expects more than 300 gigawatts of new wind power capacity to be added globally by 2023.

"In the short term, government support in the form of auctions and tenders for projects, as well as renewable energy targets, will continue to be an important driver of new facilities," the GWEC said.

"In addition, as the wind industry continues to prove its cost competitiveness and bilateral agreements such as enterprise power purchase agreements are signed, the opportunities for commercial operation of wind power are increasing," the report added.
