Abstract from China Net

The reporter recently learned from the National Energy Administration: Since the 18th National Congress of the Party, China''s energy structure has been significantly optimized, which has played an important role in promoting the energy revolution and protecting the ecological environment. By the end of last year, the installed power capacity of renewable energy had reached 570 million kilowatts, accounting for about 35 percent of the total installed power capacity. The use of non-fossil energy accounted for 13.3% of the total primary energy consumption, an increase of 3.9 percentage points over 2010. At present, China''s installed capacity of hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic power generation has ranked first in the world.

Water and electricity continue to expand. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has added approximately 83 million kilowatts of hydropower installed capacity, with an estimated total installed capacity of approximately 340 million kilowatts by the end of 2017 and an annual power generation of over 1.1 trillion kilowatt hours. In the past five years, China has started and put into operation a batch of large hydropower stations of more than 3 million kilowatts, such as Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba on the Jinsha River. Among them, the installed capacity of Xiluodu Dam ranks the third in the world.

Wind power leads the world. Since 2012, China''s newly added wind power installed capacity has ranked first in the world for four consecutive years. By the end of last year, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power had increased by 87.58 million kilowatts, becoming the third largest power source after coal and hydropower.

Photovoltaic power generation is expanding rapidly. Since 2013, the new installed capacity has exceeded 10 million kilowatts for four consecutive years. At the end of last year, China''s cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation reached 77.42 million kilowatts, maintaining the world''s first for two consecutive years.

While rapidly developing renewable energy, China has also accelerated the pace of clean and efficient utilization of traditional energy.

Significant progress has been made in electricity substitution in various fields. In order to adapt to the gradual popularization of new energy vehicles, China has accelerated the development of the charging infrastructure industry. By the end of April this year, 171000 public Charging station had been built nationwide. Among them, the construction of intercity high-speed charging stations has been accelerated, forming a "six vertical, six horizontal, and two ring" pattern.

The quality of refined oil products has been upgraded. Since January 1 this year, the full supply of national five standard vehicle gasoline and diesel, China''s long-term "good oil" situation has been improved, and atmospheric pollutant emissions have been effectively reduced.
