Abstract from China New energy Network

In order to alleviate the severe phenomenon of "wind and light abandonment" in Xinjiang, it is particularly important to utilize "wind power abandonment" to supplement supply and truly achieve cost reduction and efficiency increase in areas that have already achieved initial electric heating.

Since the beginning of this year, State Grid Corporation of China, together with State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power, has explored new ways to consume new energy wind power, increasing electricity demand during wind curtailment periods, generating peak electricity consumption, and reducing wind curtailment. Xinjiang Electric Power fully consumes new energy, accounting for 31.8% of the electricity consumption, far exceeding the national average of 5.19%.

In 2016, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company fully utilized market and policy measures to achieve a counter trend growth in new energy consumption. The electricity consumption of new energy increased by 9.3 billion kilowatt hours year-on-year, reaching 28.66 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 31.8% of the total electricity sales of Xinjiang Power Grid.

That is to say, out of the three lighting lights in Xinjiang''s households, one uses wind power and optoelectronics, far exceeding the national average level of 5.19% for new energy consumption.
