Abstract from "Wind Energy"

In the first half of 2023, China''s wind power industry continued a good development trend. The scale of installed capacity continues to expand, the utilization level steadily improves, the orderly development of offshore wind power, the overall technological progress is obvious, the international cooperation continues to deepen, and the market competitiveness of wind power is further enhanced, providing strong support for China''s energy transformation, coping with climate change, and ensuring energy security.

The industry developed steadily and comprehensively. From January to June, the country added 22.99 million kilowatts of grid-connected wind power, and the cumulative grid-connected installed capacity reached 390 million kilowatts. It is expected that the annual installed capacity of wind power will not be less than 50 million kilowatts. The "14th Five-Year Plan" is a key period for China to achieve carbon peak, ensuring that the average annual installed capacity of wind power is not less than 50 million kilowatts, which is the minimum requirement for the implementation of carbon peak and carbon neutral goals.

The utilization level has steadily improved. From January to June, wind power generated 424.6 billion KWH, up 16% year on year, accounting for 10% of the country''s total power generation. The average number of hours of wind power utilization was 1,237, an increase of 83 hours compared to the same period in 2022.

Offshore wind power is steadily advancing. At present, China''s offshore wind power has entered the stage of large-scale development, and the process of large-scale wind power units has accelerated, and 18 MW offshore wind power units have been launched in China, which will soon enter the 20 MW level. The specialization of transportation, lifting, operation and maintenance equipment and ships has improved the efficiency of construction and operation, and correspondingly reduced costs. In addition, following the "Three Gorges leading" and the "Fuyao" installed in the China Sea, the successful grid-connected power generation of CNOOC''s "CNOOC Guanlan" marks significant progress in China''s far-reaching sea breeze power key technologies, and lays a solid foundation for "toward deep blue".

Seek progress while maintaining stability in technology development. In terms of large capacity units, 16 MW offshore wind turbines have been connected to the grid for power generation, 18 MW models have been offline and will be completed in the second half of 2023; The 10 MW onshore wind turbine has completed the hoisting and grid connection commissioning work. The long blade and high tower applications are at the international leading level, with the longest blade reaching 126 meters and the highest hub height reaching 170 meters. In the application of new technology, the new sensor technology represented by Lidar is widely used in the mainstream new models, which can reduce the gust impact and improve the power generation efficiency of the unit. The application of enhanced aerodynamic technology such as blade vortex generator and blade tip winglets can significantly enhance the power generation performance of the unit. The application of high tower technology is beneficial to broaden the application space of the unit in the low wind speed area. Centralized monitoring, failure prediction and life analysis technology make the overall management of wind power more intelligent and efficient.

Steady progress was made in international cooperation. On July 10, at the China-Thailand wind Power Industry Cooperation and Exchange meeting, the Thai Wind Energy Association and the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society (CWEA) signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of wind power", which will help deepen China-Asean cooperation in the field of wind power, making it a "new business card" in China''s economic diplomacy. Next, CWEA will cooperate with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) in the United Nations Climate Week in New York, the Beijing International Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition, the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference and other platforms, relying on Chinese products, technologies, standards, and experience to promote countries to accelerate the development of wind energy resources. At the same time, China''s wind power enterprises have accelerated the pace of "going out". As of the end of the first quarter of 2023, Goldwind Technology''s overseas external orders in hand totaled 4.53 million kilowatts, an increase of 65.7%; Vision Energy has won wind turbine supply orders in India, Morocco, Uzbekistan and other countries; Mingyang Intelligent signed the largest installed wind power project in the Philippines; Daikin Heavy Industry wins multiple offshore wind power single pile base supply contracts in Europe.

The above achievements cannot be achieved without the joint efforts of all parties. On the one hand, the national competent authorities escort the development quality of wind power by improving the policy system. The Guiding Opinions on Energy Work in 2023 and the Key Points of Energy Regulation in 2023 comprehensively deploy the key work in the energy field in 2023. The "Wind farm Upgrading and decommissioning Management Measures" has played a "combination of policies" and filled the "blank" of wind farm upgrading and decommissioning management policies. On the other hand, wind power enterprises have always focused on improving the power generation efficiency and reliability of wind turbines through technological innovation, relying on development and business model innovation to expand wind power application scenarios, and constantly improve the economy of wind power.

Promoting the high-quality leapfrog development of the wind power industry is crucial for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. To this end, the industry still needs to use innovation as a starting point to improve quality and efficiency, making wind power an affordable green energy source globally, and promoting the early entry of all humanity into a zero carbon society.
