Analysis and current problems of small wind power projects

Release time:2010-09-02   Click:96

Small fan export to foreign markets, profit margin is basically 100%; In the domestic market, the profit margin of "photoelectric complementary" small wind motors already sold is about 40%.

Affected by the global financial storm, China''s foreign trade export industry has suffered a serious blow. However, the small wind power that has been "unknown" is flying against the trend this year, at the Canton Fair, compared with the cold scene of most traditional export products, the small wind power exhibition area is particularly prosperous, and orders continue. In the view of industry experts, small wind power or will get a "blowout" development in the next few years.

Analysis of the Small Wind Power Market:

Coal, natural gas and other mineral deposits as the main raw materials of thermal power, because of its non-renewable characteristics, is increasingly drying up. The issue of greenhouse gas emissions associated with thermal power generation has been paid more and more attention by governments around the world. Vigorously developing new energy has been put on the agenda worldwide. Among the new energy sources, wind energy has developed most rapidly in recent years.

According to media reports, the number of small wind installations in the UK will more than double this year. The reason is that in order to meet the UK government''s target of 35% of its electricity demand by 2020 from "green power", British consumers face high electricity prices, and the UK''s six major energy companies raised electricity prices for customers twice in 2008. In 2009, the demand for small wind power in the United Kingdom will continue to rise sharply, from the British Wind Power Association (BWEA) report said that in 2009 the United Kingdom will install more than 13,000 new small wind power equipment.

Like the UK, the United States, a big energy consumer, is also actively promoting the development of small wind power. In October, the U.S. Congress passed tax incentives for small wind power equipment. Here''s what it says: An investment tax credit, where 30% of the construction cost can be used as a tax credit. Qin Haiyan, secretary-general of the China Wind Energy Association, believes that the introduction of this policy will promote the small wind turbine market in the United States to grow at a rate of about 40%.

Wind power development in China has been mainly based on the construction of large-scale wind farms, and the approved projects in recent years are mostly large-scale wind farms. Until today, the entire industry of small wind power is under the Ministry of Agricultural Machinery. This has largely hindered the development of the small wind power industry.

At the "wind power Construction Work Symposium" held in Beijing, Zhao Xiaoping, deputy director of the National Energy Administration, said that China will appropriately adjust the development strategy of wind power in the future, and on the basis of continuing to promote large wind power bases, it will also focus on the construction of small and medium-sized wind power projects. This is undoubtedly a good sign for China''s small and medium-sized wind power industry that happiness is coming to the door.

Analysis of the Prospect of Small Wind Power:

Whether there is an opportunity is one thing, and whether we can seize it is another.

The market "cake" of the global small wind power industry is getting bigger and bigger. Can small wind power and wind turbine manufacturers in China have the ability to share their food? Small wind power and large wind power, although both are in the wind power industry, most of us in the industry view them as two different industries. Although the wind power generation principles of small wind power and large wind power are similar, there are significant differences between the two industries: different policy orientations, different application fields, different markets, and different technologies. They belong to two separate industries.

In China, large wind power construction projects are largely controlled by state-owned enterprises and foreign enterprises, and it is difficult for private enterprises to enter. In the field of small wind power, private enterprises have strong vitality. Jiangdu Shenzhou Wind Turbine Factory, Jingjiang Fields wind Power Equipment Co., Ltd. and other private enterprises in the production of small fans, are at the forefront of the industry.

Although large-scale wind power generation is leading in foreign countries in terms of equipment and technology, it is China that "outshines" in the field of small and medium-sized wind power generation and wind (referring to wind and solar energy) complementarity. In terms of technology and price, small fans produced in China have a competitive advantage in the world.

Small wind power emerged in the 1980s, mainly used in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and other areas where the power grid is unable to reach. After these years of technical research, today, China has slowly launched the Chinese brand of small and medium-sized wind power and complementary scenery in the world.

While staying ahead in technology, benefiting from China''s relatively low labor costs, China''s exported small fans have a significant price advantage in foreign markets, about 2/3 of the price of local products in Europe and the United States. Although the domestic small wind power market has not been developed, the "dual integration" of technical advantages and price advantages has made China''s small wind power gradually break into a big name in the international market.

The problems faced by small wind power:

Due to the lack of policy support, the development of small wind power in China is very limited. Areas where the power grid is difficult to reach, such as remote villages, lakes, islands, etc., have a certain market demand for small wind power. But from an economic point of view, external benefits do not necessarily mean intrinsic benefits. Because the purchasing power of residents in these areas is not high, and the cost of equipment transportation is large, maintenance is quite troublesome, so it is difficult to form economic benefits.

In areas covered by the grid, few people will consider buying small wind power equipment because the installation of small wind power equipment is a one-time investment, the installation cost is high, and users are skeptical about its stability. "To develop the domestic market, we mainly rely on cooperation with the government to apply small wind power to street lights, traffic monitoring equipment, weather stations, seawater desalination and other fields."

In foreign markets, because Europe and the United States and other countries have relevant financial subsidies for residents to buy small fans, and the awareness of residents in these countries to use clean energy is relatively strong, the development rate of small wind power has been relatively fast in recent years. Du Shangbin told reporters: "Like Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, New Zealand and other countries, the government gives farmers and herders who install small wind power 40%-60% of the financial subsidies." The electricity generated by small fans is not only enough for themselves, but also can be incorporated into the grid and sold for money, so the enthusiasm of farmers is very high.

For small wind power production enterprises in China, it has been a long-standing expectation for government policy support. When the domestic market for small wind power can open up depends on when the country can recall this "forgotten industry".
