The installed capacity of renewable energy continues to achieve new breakthroughs. In the first three quarters of 2023, the newly installed capacity of renewable energy in China was 172 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 93%, accounting for 76% of the newly installed capacity. Among them, the newly installed capacity of hydropower is 7.88 million kilowatts, wind power is 33.48 million kilowatts, photovoltaic power is 128.94 million kilowatts, and biomass power is 2.07 million kilowatts. As of the end of September 2023, the installed capacity of renewable energy in China was about 1.384 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 20%, accounting for about 49.6% of the total installed capacity in China. It has exceeded the installed capacity of thermal power, including 419 million kilowatts of hydropower, 400 million kilowatts of wind power, 521 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, and 43 million kilowatts of biomass power.
The generation of renewable energy is steadily increasing. In the first three quarters of 2023, the national renewable energy generation reached 2.07 trillion kilowatt hours, accounting for approximately 31.3% of the total power generation; Among them, the wind and photovoltaic power generation reached 1.07 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 22.3%, exceeding the electricity consumption of urban and rural residents during the same period. （1） Construction and operation of hydropower.
